As I mentioned on Thursday, I spent my weekend sorting out my closet. I got rid of a HEAP of stuff, and put the best of it up on eBay. If you are interested here's what I've got on offer
All of this stuff has either never been worn, or rarely worn. If you are interested you can bid or buy the items here

Things I Love Thursday
I missed posting 'Things I Love Thursday' last week, due to an expo I was working, so this weeks is going to be a bit bigger than normal.
I know, it's completely tacky to want this cook book, but I'm not ashamed. I want it.

When Jesse and I buy our new house, I will have room to set up a
sewing machine, and will be able to make cool skirts like this, but until then,
I will covet these awesome Star Wars skirts.
And, finally, as a follow up to this post, I thought I would share some posts about fat acceptance. These posts are far more articulate than mine, and offer links to some books, and other bloggers, if you want to read further. You can read these posts here and here.
Finally, in case you've some doubts, I'm sharing The Body Images Project. These are photos that showcase all the sizes, and shapes of beauty. And they are wonderful. I was watching a show about plastic surgery the other day, and I was so astounded by the idea of attaining the perfect body. These people did drastic things to make themselves 'perfect', when really, they were all perfect to begin with.
Oh, and I am having a MASSIVE closet clean out this weekend, and will be listing some things on eBay. I'll post some links up here when I've got it all sorted, but keep an eye out for that, I know there is stuff that still have the tags on!

25 Things Fat People Shouldn't Do - Number 2, Swing
25 Things Fat People Shouldn't Do is an unabashed middle finger to the preposterous idea that any human who weighs more than the status quo does not deserve to live a full and well rounded (ahem) life. The list of 25 is composed word for word from direct lists of sheer assholery found on the internet. These range from the absurd to the profoundly shameful, and I will be disproving this offensive notion with style. Feel free to join in on the fun, and if you do, link at the bottom so I can share. May the Chub Club live long and prosper! - The Militant Baker
Jesse and I went for a walk by the river yesterday, and when I spotted the swing set, I needed a go. I didn't even think about doing this post when I saw the swing, but seeing as Jesse snapped some shots of me, I thought I would join in.
So, Jes over at The Militant Baker has decided to work her way through a list of 25 Things Fat People Shouldn't Do, and go on a swing is one of them. So, here is me, on a swing!

Honest To Blog - I'm Lucy and I'm Fat
It's been quite a year for me. A lot of really great stuff
as happened, along with some really bad stuff. But, mostly good. I think the
most important and wonderful breakthrough that I've had this year has happened
just in the last few months. So, while I've never really been too concerned about what other people think of me, I have always had a body issue. Don't get
me wrong, I've never wanted to be a stick insect, but I've always thought that
I was too heavy, that my butt was too big, or my knees look gross. That if I
could only get to a size 12, I would be sorta normal. And so, for most of this
year I've been dieting. I've been denying myself something with I enjoy,
wholeheartedly, over everything; food. And, I suddenly realised that I don't
want to do that anymore. I LOVE eating. I LOVE food. So, why am I trying to
make myself unhappy by not doing something I enjoy? I've fallen in love with my
body and the way I look. YEP I AM IN LOVE WITH ME! and it's taken me 28 years
to realise that i'm actually pretty damn happy with the way I look. I actually
don't want to change that much. I've even grown to love my knees :)
My knees. With 2 bunnies and a cat. |
The most important part of life is being happy and healthy.
And that is what I am striving for. None of this diet crap. DIETS SUCK!
everyone knows that, but being healthy and feeling great in the body you've got
is fantasic. And anyway who thinks otherwise can fuck off. I come from a family
of eaters. A family who loves and appreciates food, who loves to cook, and I am
that person, so why try to change me? I have a man that loves the way I look,
loves every single bit of me, tells me how beautiful and sexy I am everyday.
And, you know what? I believe him every time he says it. Because I am.
I mean sure, there are always times when you're going to get
down about they way you look, unfortunately that's the way we've been taught to
behave, and it's hard to let those things go, to forge a new way of thinking,
but that's why I'm going to do. I've gained lots of inspiration from other
bloggers on fat acceptance and loving you for you, and it's great that I'm not
the only one who is thinking this way, and I love it.
Now, i'm not talking about being a couch potato and eating
junk. That's not what this is about, being active is great for mind and body,
and I love walking, but I'm not going to starve myself any longer. Limiting
yourself to 1200 calories a day, is starvation, and it's fucked. Eat well, eat
food you love, and BE HAPPY!
I'm Lucy. I'm fat, and I fucking love it.

Things I Love Thursday
It's short and sweet this week!
My best friend is pregnant, and I've been looking at adorable baby clothes to buy for her little one. And I found this Darth Vader onsie. When I have babies, I'm buying this.
These jars are so awesome! Maybe I'll buy some when Jesse and I get our new house.
And finally check out this website by Jon Rafman. He has collected a bunch of happenstance images from Google Street View, and turned them into a collection called The Nine Eyes Of Google Street View. If you are in London, they are currently on display at The Saatchi Gallery.
That's all for today, enjoy!

Things I Love Thursday
I wasn't going to do this post today. I just wasn't feeling it. But, as the day as gone on, I decided that I would post it. And that's my story. Fascinating no? :)
Now, I like to think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to internet shopping. I do 98% of my shopping online. But, HOW HAVE I ONLY JUST DISCOVERED FOREVER21 HAVE A PLUS SIZE RANGE? How has this alluded me for so long? I'm so ashamed. But, now that I have found it. I want this dress.
Oh how I want a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas. And, please make it this pair. They are amazing.
Um, how incredible is this bag?!?! It looks like a cartoon. It's not, It's a real bag. They are so amazing.
I love these cross stitch buttons and cufflinks. They are so cute.
So, that's it for this week. I'm hoping to be back next week with more food and cooking posts. I have been super duper lazy the last couple of weeks, and choosing things that require the least amount of effort on my part :)
