Things I Love Thursday

It's all about shoes again. I can't help it. There are just so many wonderful shoes out there! My girl Alex from Jet Georgette wore some of these shoes out on the town a couple of weeks ago, and since then I can't stop thinking about them. These are the ones I want.

I particularly love the top pair. But, Alex said they run really small and narrow, so I'll probably just drool over them from the screen!

I also want this tea subscription box!! I want a variety of teas delivered to my door each month! Finally, a subscription box I can get behind.

Also, this article is so spot on. Particularly the bit about 'good' and 'bad' food. I have been saying this for ages.

Perth Curvettes Body Parts Challenge - Abdomen

This is my seconds last Body Parts post! I knew as soon as we chose abdomen as one of the parts, that I had to wear a bodycon dress. What better way to show it off??

I used to HATE my abdomen (don't most people?!?!) because it's where I carry a lot of my fat. It sticks out, and it jiggles.

But, now I find myself holding it in my sleep. Gently caressing it when I'm sitting down. It's the place that Kransky snuggles in to. It's where I'll grow a baby.

It's soft, and squishy and it's mine.

A Trip To The Zoo!

A couple of weeks ago my very best friend asked me if I'd like to go to the zoo. The zoo is one of my favourite places ever, plus it would be her little Man's first trip. Of course I said yes!! We went on Sunday, and apart from a bit of rain at the beginning, it was a great day!

The animals were particularly active. Apparently we just missed a Rhino fight :(

You can't really see it properly, but there is a little Meerkat warming his belly under the heat lamp.

It was a lovely day! Apparently they've never been to the zoo without me. I hope that's a tradition we continue.

Recipe - The Best Apple Crumble

It's been so long since I've post a recipe!! I was making apple crumble the other night and I thought I'd better post the recipe.

As usual, this is super quick and easy to make. It is so comforting, especially on a cold and rainy winters night.

I like to prepare my crumble ahead of time. It gives the apples some time to macerate in the sugar, but, you don't have too. You can assemble it and shove it straight in the oven. I also use a special spice mix. It's made up of ground cinnamon, nutmeg & all spice.

Ingredients

4 large Granny Smith apples
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 teaspoon ground spice mix above (optional)
115gm cold butter, cubed
115gm light brown sugar
175gm plain flour

Method

Peel and core the apples. Cut them into bite size chunks. Pop these in a bowl and add the caster sugar, and the spice mix if you're using it. Mix it all around so that the apple chunky are nice and coated.
In a separate bowl, add your flour and brown sugar, and give it a bit of a stir to mix. Now add your cubed butter and rub the butter into the flour until it resembles sand. This can take a good 10 minutes, but it's a nice tactile experience, so enjoy it!

Place your apples in a shallow baking dish, or pie dish.

and cover with your crumble topping

Now, if you're make this ahead of time, now is the time to cover with cling wrap and pop it in the fridge.

When you're ready to eat this bad boy, preheat the oven to 180C and pop it in there for 20-30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and the apples are bubbling. Once it's done, let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Or, you'll burn yourself. Trust me. I burn myself almost daily on food because I'm too impatient to let it cool.

Serve on it's own, or with cream or ice cream.

I forgot to take a photo on the day I made it, but this is what it will look like with it's cooked.

I had the last serve for breakfast this morning. Contemplating making another one tonight because it's so good. I forget how good it is until I make it.

Perth Curvettes Body Parts Challenge - Shoulders

I know there hasn't been a lot of variety in my posts lately, and frankly, I don't really care. I'm enjoying these Perth Curvettes challenges, and I really want to complete this one. I think it's important that we celebrate our bodies!

Today I'm showing off my shoulders. And, I couldn't think of a better way to do that than in a Hell Bunny dress!!

As I've mentioned many times before, I've never really had an issue with my arms, and I count shoulders in this too. To me, shoulders are an area of the body I've never really thought about one way or the other. They do their job, they do it well, and I have no issues showing them off.

I really love this dress. As I do with all my Hell Bunny dresses! But, this one actually has bunnies on it! Plus, it is perfect for this shoulder challenge as it shows my shoulders in all their glory! Look at them, being shoulders!

You also get bonus snaps of Kransky. He just loves having his photo taken!!

Perth Curvettes Body Parts Challenge - Back

I'm determined to finish these Perth Curvettes challenges this time!! Today I'm doing back.

I never really pay much attention to my back. I guess because when you look in the mirror it's not something you see.

This is my back. We haven't always been friends. But not because of the way it look, because of the way it is. I have extra bones in my neck, and a gap in one of my vertebrae in my lower back. This means I have a super long spine, and my coccyx curls underneath my pelvis and they push on each other when I sit. It can be painful. It's that sort of uncomfortable that you live with for so long you don't even notice it's there. I have some days where I can't wait to get in to bed and I nearly cry at the relief of pressure, and other days where I don't even notice it. It is what it is.

So, that's my back!
